Survey of local councillors in Australia: Now open

Survey of local councillors in Australia: Now open
24 September 2014

Currently serving elected members from all local governments around Australia are invited to participate in an new research project of the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government (ACELG) and the Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) about local democracy.

This builds upon earlier work by the Centre and the VLGA called Representative local democracy: an analysis of experience in Australia.

By answering a survey about the role of an elected member in the democratic process, elected staff will be able to contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the complexity, value and diversity of the work of local government councillors and their backgrounds. Survey respondents will have the opportunity to win $250 worth of Dymocks book vouchers for use in-store or online.

Start the survey here.

The survey is available until midnight on Friday 31 October, 2014. A report of the results of the research will be available in December 2014.

We look forward to hearing about your experiences and opinions. If you have any questions about the research please contact: Catherine Hastings, Research Officer, ACELG at [email protected].
