05 November 2015

The next National Local Government Workforce and Indigenous Employment Forum and Showcase will take place at Old Parliament House in Canberra on Wednesday 2 December.

Hosted by Local Government Professionals Australia (formerly LGMA National), the Forum will showcase some of the best practices and narratives from across the country from the local government workforce and Indigenous employment areas. Program highlights include:

  • presentations from the Department of Employment on Indigenous employment labour market; the Department of Education and Training on the federal government’s workforce programs; the Committee for Economic Development Australia (CEDA) on Australia’s Future Workforce and implications for local government; and on rethinking skills in VET;
  • the launch of the ACELG/LGPA Mature Age Workforce Resource; and
  • an opportunity for information exchange and discussion on current local government workforce issues.

The Forum will also inform the sector about projects that ACELG and LG Professionals have developed to support this important aspect of the local government sector.

The draft program can be view here.
