'Why Local Government Matters' Presentation
08 May 2015

A full room of local government professionals listened intently to a presentation by Associate Professor Roberta Ryan about what contemporary Australians value about local government.

The presentation was the focus of the Centre's latest 'Government to Governance' seminar held at UTS on Monday 20 April. A/Prof Ryan outlined initial findings from the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government (ACELG) project called 'Why Local Government Matters'.

The presentation is now available via the ACELG YouTube channel.

Why Local Government Matters is a national project, and the first of its kind, to explore community perceptions of Australian local government. The research will be of critical value to stakeholders interested in enhancing local-level governance in view of sector changes in a number of jurisdictions, and will be released shortly.
